The majority of the fused glass jewelry I make is from dichroic glass, which adds depth, dimension and sparkle and changes when viewed at different angles and in different lights.  This is because each sheet of dichroic glass is coated with 30-50 ultra thin layers of different metals (gold, silver), metal oxides (titanium, chromium, aluminum, zirconium, magnesium) and silica.  In fact, the coat created is very similar to that of a gemstone.
